“What Does the Bible Say About Politics” (Pastor Jeff Zehnder // Fellowship Hall)
The Bible calls us to bring all things under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, for he is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Have you ever wondered what the Bible says (and perhaps doesn’t say) about politics? I can count on one finger how many times I have heard the subject of politics or civil government come up in the church for teaching. That’s not a terrible track record: The church’s primary focus should never be the politics of civil government, but the eternal kingdom of Jesus Christ. Meaning, evangelism & discipleship, works of mercy, teaching Scripture and worship with sacraments: these should take up the church’s primary tasks. But all things should come under Christ’s Lordship, and that includes our view of the state. This fall, I will be teaching material I assembled over 15 years ago. Through it, we will examine many politically-oriented Bible passages, one by one. You might be surprised how much the Bible has to say! We will see what these texts say about political governments then and now. May the Lord be indeed “king of the nations” (Jeremiah 10:7, Revelation 15:4).
“A Study of 2 Peter” (Dan Sullivan // Video Room)
Have you ever felt ineffective in your daily walk? Have you ever felt unfruitful in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ? Have you ever spent time stumbling around as a blind person in your Christian life, forgetting from what you have been saved? I know that I have, and this letter has helped me to understand that we are not called just to be saved: we are called to have an abundant, fruitful life in Christ. Please feel free to join me in a study of Peter’s second letter.
2| Morning Worship |10:45am
Pastor Jeff Zehnder will be preaching from Matthew 5:1-12. “The Beatitudes”
Matthew 5:1-12. “The Beatitudes.” Jesus our Messiah is Jesus the lawgiver, the prophet like Moses. He reveals God’s will.
What does he reveal? Kingdom character. Jesus teaches what he expects of the character of Christians. Give ear to this rich, magnificent, and challenging word. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” (Matthew 5:6)
Online livestream starts at 10:45am: https://youtube.com/live/_-rFwNKt9wI
