“Prayer” with Dr. R.C. Sproul (Various Teachers // Fellowship Hall) now – August 31
As Christians, we are given the privilege and responsibility of communicating with the Creator and Sustainer of the universe. Yet many Christians neglect prayer. The subject of its importance and, oftentimes, neglect, has recently come up in various ways at Fairview Church. During the summer sessions, we will watch and discuss Dr. R.C. Sproul’s teaching that intimate communication with God is at the heart of our relationship to Him. In addition, we will spend some of the sessions engaging in group prayer together. Please join us at 9:30 am on Sunday mornings!
2| Morning Worship |10:45am
Pastor Jeff Zehnder will be preaching from Matthew 9:35-38 “The Harvest is Here”
Jesus restored. Now Jesus calls, teaches, and trains. There are a lot of people growing weary of the false promises of the world and secularism. Is there any direction to life? Listen to Jesus calling you. Pastor Jeff begins Matthew 9:35-11:1, a section about Jesus the Discipler. Jesus’ work of personal discipleship takes center stage. He calls for field workers (9:35-38), he commissions 12 disciples (10:1-4), and then teaches them (10:5-43). In our passage today, we learn that disciples aren’t just followers of Jesus’ teaching. Disciples are “laborers” in the harvest of the Lord. What important things do these few verses teach us about the “why,” the “what,” and the “where” of kingdom work today?
