The Minor Prophets – led by Steve Lorah | Fellowship Hall Now – June 28
So often in the Church we pay very little attention to the twelve books that make up the Minor Prophets. Without context, these books can be difficult to understand and, as a result, Christians frequently miss the deep, rich truths in this portion of Scripture. This class will not be an in-depth study of these books, but rather a historical overview of the group. We will seek to place context around each of these books to aid in future in-depth study and, ultimately, to gain a deeper understanding of the character of God as He reveals himself through His prophets.
Proverbs and Parables: Part I – led by Stephen Hapach |Kitchen Now – June 28
The same Holy Spirit that prompted Solomon to tell riddles also inspired Jesus to tell stories. Proverbs speak to our minds, while parables speak to our hearts. As a group we will examine passages of both proverbs and parables, discussing and applying God’s unchanging wisdom to our lives.
United in Christ: Thriving in Marriage and Parenthood – led by Jeff & Linda Lyden |Video Room Now – June 28
This class is designed to encourage and strengthen new and young marriages by building a Christ-centered foundation that honors God. Together, we will seek His guidance on how to protect, nurture, and grow your marriage according to His purpose. Through prayer, biblical principles, and open discussion, we will explore topics such as guarding your relationship from outside influences, raising children in faith and unity, balancing family and work in a way that reflects God’s priorities, and developing financial unity through wise and faithful stewardship.
2| Morning Worship |10:45am
Pastor Jeff will be preaching from Matthew 16:13-20 “The Rock of Confessing Christ”
Here is the capstone of a long section of divided takes on Jesus. Who is Jesus? Jesus asks Peter who people say he is. Peter gives the alternatives. Jesus gets personal: “Who do you say I am?” And Peter reveals his own faith when the word escapes his lips: “you are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus affirms Peter’s grand confession. And a hope for the church can now be established.
Fun Facts:
The disciples have already confessed Jesus was the Son of God (14:33), but here, Peter clarifies the confession by tying “Messiah” (Christ) to “son of God.”
The name Peter is close to the word for ‘rock’.
Matthew is the only gospel that uses the word ‘church’ (v18)
