2|Final Outdoor Worship Service August 16, 2026 |10:45am
Pastor Jeff Zehnder will be preaching from Matthew 17:22-26 “Jesus and the Temple Tax”
The drumbeat of Jesus’ warning of his own death and resurrection is struck a second time (vv22-23). Then back in Capernaum again, tax collectors press Peter, asking why their ‘teacher’ does not pay the temple tax. Talking aloud with Peter, Jesus gives a moral lesson. But he ends up paying the temple tax anyway, via supernatural means with a fish.
Right after worship – Luncheon! Ohioville Park, 506 Smith’s Ferry Rd. There will be a picnic lunch afterwards. Please bring a main dish, and a side to share. Invite someone from the community to come to the service and lunch. And bring an appetite! The Outreach Committee will supply the ice cream and toppings for dessert. Picnic tables will be there but bring lawn chairs!
We will not be livestreaming this service unless we end up doing the service here at the church. Here is the link if we end up doing the service at church. https://youtube.com/live/8ZDu8ni6rm4
Online livestream starts at 10:45am: You may click on it at any time. But service will start at 10:45am. Format: YouTube livestream
3|No Evening Worship
What can I do to finish out the Lord’s Day? Here are 4 suggestions: (a) Invite a church friend or family for dinner, especially one who you may not know well. (b) Make a connection with Non churched neighbors – say hello, or bring over a surprise baked treat. (c) Set apart 15-30 minutes for family devotion or family worship (ask questions about the sermon for example). Or (d) Retreat by yourself – Give yourself an extended time of individual devotion with the Lord, in the Word or in prayer for others.
Finish the day in rest with the Lord.
