My passion as the superintendent is to supply the resources for equipping our teachers to best present biblical truths to their students. The Apostle Paul (1 Corinthians 9:22-23) speaks of becoming “all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.” Our Sunday School strives to share this same gospel through our Adult and Student curriculum electives.
Our spiritual walk has many unique starting points, and as a body of believers, I see our goal is to walk together, helping and encouraging each other along the way, as our path in life draws closer to Jesus. Come join us Sunday mornings at 9:30, and let’s walk together for a while, and see a little more of our Savior, Jesus.
Praise on!
Nick Orell, Sunday School Superintendent
Our Mission. . . .
Our Fairview Church Sunday School Program exists because it is an obligation and a privilege to pass along God’s covenant promises to the next generation. We hope to create an environment in which all ages grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ and those who don’t know Christ realize their need. Through the fellowship aspects of the program, we hope to strengthen the church as we relate to the interests and needs of each other.
Adult Education Classes
Men’s Class – A Call to Courageous Men – Leader Philip Chaffee
Dennis Rainey identifies five stages of a man’s journey through life – boyhood, adolescence, manhood, mentor, and patriarch – examines a man’s responsibilities at each step. Rainey calls men to seize the moment and take action, stepping up to responsibility and inspiring others in the process. It’s about embracing courage, rejecting passivity and cowardice.
Women’s Class – Prayers of the Bible – Leader Linda D’Angelo
Men & Women – Romans – Leader Pastor Ric
Student Education Classes
Show Me Jesus! – The PCA’s own Great Commission Publications is our primary educational resources for Sunday School curriculum for toddlers through senior high. Each class has a “scope and sequence” to bring in a big picture to study over the age groups covered. That is, each week builds onto a semester focus, revealing the unfolding story of Jesus, and each semester focuses onto a bigger picture of God as the sovereign Creator, redeemer, and King. God’s complete word in where Scripture is studied in wholeness and unity, to show us the Biblical thread of the covenant of grace and assurance of His redeeming love. (http://www.gcp.org/)
Communicants Class – a seasonal class that starts traditionally in the fall for our young members. This class, hosted by Pastor Ric looks at the tenants of our faith in the Westminster Confession, and is geared to equip our young students to claim their own faith and become a member of our church.
